King's Birthday Doubles Competition

8 pairs contested the King’s Birthday Doubles Competition, on a sunny, but very cold day. Right up until the day we had rainy and misserable days, for a while thinking postponement. But luckily all went well.

Games were timed and Advantage handicap in use. On the day, we recorded a win/draw/loss result purely on the hoops run. However, once the necessary calculations had been done, the final results were:

Sandra and Warwick came out on top with five games, followed by Tracey and Stan with four games and one draw, then Margaret and Ian pulling into third place with 3 games and 2 draws.

Congratulations to all who participated.

It was a gruelling day and it was clear to me that the Target Score method brought out excellent play.

The strongest players had to really work hard and other players felt that they had a good chance to shine.

That constituted, in my reckoning, fair competition.
