Singles Competition 5th October 2026

Seven players in fine fettle and in good weather played out the day in standard 13-hoop games.  A time cap of 45 minutes was applied which meant that not all games were decided with a 7-hoop winning result.

Mavis and Ben withdrew after the third round, having enjoyed a morning of invigorating play and worthy opponents. Their attendance ensured that the final two games of the day were a valuable repechage.

Due to the small number of contenders, and the closeness of their respective standards, handicapping was not applied to determine the placings.

The table of results shows every game and reveals how tight the play was for most of the day; even those games which have a wide difference in the final scores were fiercely contested.

The final results confirm the observation that every hoop counts.

Congratulations to all those who participated and due acknowledgement to Ian and Ross in coming through at the final gate.

I would like to see more players accept the challenge and excitement of embracing competitive play.

It’s better than coffee.
